For more than a century, the Coussau family has been a benchmark for sustainable Landes gastronomy, thanks in particular to the pioneering initiative of Bernard Coussau, the first to work with fresh duck liver gras in the region.
With a 2-star restaurant in the Guide MICHELIN France since 1971, the Coussau family's Relais de la Poste celebrates the Landes region and its treasures. Chefs Jean and Clémentine Coussau offer authentic Gascon cuisine, highlighting exceptional produce, respecting the seasons and offering a refined, high-quality gastronomic experience.
As a locavore establishment, the Relais de la Poste restaurant in Magescq takes a sustainable approach to gastronomy, working closely with local producers, breeders, growers and fishermen for many years. The Relais de la Poste, once a stopover for 19th-century travellers, has been transformed into a 4-star hotel full of charm and character. In the heart of the Relais de la Poste estate, the Auberge Côté Quillier invites you to savour bourgeois home cooking, prepared with passion and expertise. Housed in an elegant pavilion dating from the 1970s, once the home of Jean Coussau and his brother Jacques' parents, the inn offers a warm, refined setting for an unforgettable moment of bistronomy. The Mont Royal Horse Stables
Located just a stone's throw from the Relais de la Poste, the Mont Royal Horse Stables is a modern equestrian centre where horse lovers will be in their element! The centre offers pony and horse rides for all levels of riders aged 3 and over.
For something different, the qualified instructors at the Penan equestrian farm offer dressage and show-jumping lessons, and during the school holidays there are introductory and advanced courses.
To combine comfort and pleasure, a traditional half-timbered house dating from 1891 has been completely renovated, as well as stables and paddocks, so that owners can stay with their horses in the Landes region.
Pine forest, orchard and vineyard
On the Relais de la Poste estate, enjoy the swimming pool and ornamental garden, the orchard planted with fruit trees from the conservatory, and an experimental vineyard where the Coussau family produce the Petite Lagune moorland wine.
